The campaign to bring back one of the finest UK bands of recent times.

Sikth

Well it’s not a real campaign but… Sikth were a crazy six piece prog metal band from Watford, who released two albums in their time: The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out Wait for Something Wild and Death of a Dead Day as well as a few EPs.

The skill of drummer Dan Foord, guitarists Pin and Dan Weller, and bassist James Leach were incredible. The distinctive vocals of Mikee Goodman and Justin Hill also set them apart from the crowd.

I had the privilege of seeing them live a couple of times, including at the 2006 Download Festival, and they blew me away each time.

If you aren’t familiar with them, check out the videos for Scent of the Obscene, Bland Street Bloom, or How May I Help You?.

Justin Hill and Dan Weller are now acclaimed producers, having recorded for the likes of Viatrophy, Johnny Truant and Gallows. But perhaps if all the acts they record for are breaking up or getting dropped by their record labels now is the time for them to get back to the band…

Pin is currently forming the band Aliases, whose sample riff on that link sounds distinctly Sikth-esque too…

What to do if you too want Sikth back:

-Politely suggest to them that they do so on their myspace, or their personal myspaces, or those of their new projects.
-Suggest to the Download, Sonisphere or Bloodstock promoters you’d pay to see them reunite at one of the fests.
-Vote for them for The Rage Factor (they won’t win).
-Listen to The Arusha Accord who basically sound the same, but not as good, anyway.
